Hello and welcome!

I originally started this site as a digital portfolio, hoping to showcase the work that I was doing while completing my graduate studies.  I’m now using not only in that regard, showcasing some of my favorite projects that I’ve worked on over the years.  I’ve also added a blog, in the hopes of sharing some of my ongoing experiences as a librarian.  I have benefited greatly from the expertise and shared knowledge of others who have been willing to share their experiences and ideas, and I hope I can do the same for others.

I spent most of my educational career in library science.  My undergraduate degree is in information science, which allowed me to take more library science courses.  I also have a master’s degree in library science.  In addition, I earned graduate academic certificates in youth services, storytelling, and advanced management of information agencies.  I continue to participate in regular professional development and continuing education opportunities, and hold memberships in both the American Library Association and the Texas Library Association.

Professionally, I started out in libraries by completing my practicum with a local public library.  Since then, I’ve worked as an academic librarian at a small career college, a youth services librarian at a public library, and now as a public services librarian for a multi-branch public library system.  As a librarian, I have a unique opportunity to introduce people to the world of knowledge, reading, research, and information that is freely available in the library and beyond.  A librarian has the opportunity to each day to change a life, and it’s my goal each day to make a positive difference in the lives of my patrons.
